Virtual Star Parties

The Dunlap Institute for Astronomy & Astrophysics at the University of Toronto - a research institute dedicated to innovative technology, research, training, and public engagement - has created an entertaining way to bring astronomy to your home.

The Dunlap Institute is connecting people to astronomy, during the pandemic, by hosting a series of virtual lectures and “planet parties.” These online series teach viewers everything from dark matter to misconceptions of the Big Bang, to the latest research, all from the comfort of your couch. There is also a segment called “Cosmos from Your Couch,” where viewers who join LIVE can ask a team of astronomy experts their burning questions about the universe.

The talks are presented online via Zoom and YouTube. The lectures are also streamed LIVE on the Dunlap Institute YouTube channel and archived for future viewing. The best part is that these events are free to join.
